2019 became the most profitable year in Elos Medtech’s ninety-seven-year history. While that is a milestone in itself, we have seen significant achievements and positive developments in all of our business areas. Even though we are currently challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic, here are some of the business highlights in 2019.
Orthopedics – Increased capacity to support the global market
In the area of orthopedics, we started working on several new projects while at the same time expanding our US-based production site. By nearly doubling our manufacturing space we were able to increase our capacity to support our customers in the global orthopedic market. Also, our first local Chinese customer, MicroPort Orthopedics, entered our organization in 2019.
Dental – All Elos Accurate products approved for sale in the US
Our entire Elos Accurate product range was approved for sale in the United States. Elos Accurate allows dental professionals to work with a fully digital workflow using some of the best digital dentistry solutions on the market today.
We also signed a distribution agreement with Nobel Biocare. They are a highly trusted actor in the dental market who recognize our products’ value. Together, Nobel Biocare and Elos Medtech offer more options in the digital workflow in terms of both implant restoration possibilities and manufacturing opportunities for labs.
One of our new dental customers is Brånemark Integration, one of the key founders of dental implants. We actually started developing and manufacturing dental implants in collaboration with Professor Per-Ingvar Brånemark himself back in 1975.
Life Science – growth in polymer components
In the area of life science, we saw growth in injection-molded polymer components. More customers want to outsource larger parts of their production line or whole production. As a result, we will – once again – expand our production site in Skara, Sweden. As our customers grow and expand their businesses, so must Elos Medtech.
We are also happy that one of our long-term customers in Tianjin, China, developed really well last year.
Looking forward to reaching new heights in 2020
Despite the current situation with the coronavirus spreading rapidly across the world, we are proud of what we achieved in 2019. While the healthcare system has been facing major challenges, we have been fully focused on creating safe and secure workplaces and delivering medical device products to our customers. When the most critical part of this period is over, we will continue to focus on:
- Working even more closely together
To broaden and deepen our customer relationships, we will focus on using the expertise and operations of all of our production sites. Each site possesses its own knowledge that should be used across the organization to benefit our customers.
- Continue to focus on operational excellence
Operational excellence is our leading star in continuously improving our organization’s work processes to serve our customers with high-quality products and valuable services. In 2020, we will continue to focus on operational excellence, technology, and site collaboration, again benefitting from the expertise of each site.
- Increasing the number of market activities
Our participation in trade shows and other similar events allows us to meet our customers, share our know-how and stay up to date with industry trends. This is very valuable to us and we plan to attend as many events as we can in 2020.
