Every year, 200,000 children around the world are born with cleft conditions. Sometimes the facial deformities are directly life-threatening, and, in many cases, they mean a life in isolation. Operation Smile’s mission is to carry out operations with voluntary healthcare efforts that give children and adults the opportunity to live a dignified life. Their vision is a future where all people have access to safe surgery that improves health and quality of life. Thanks to the medical volunteers, who share their time and knowledge, children in low- and middle-income countries can be offered surgery free of charge for their families.
