Digital dentistry is like any journey: it has a starting point, it has distinct phases with distinct challenges, and—when done correctly—leads to a predictable outcome. And as with a journey, the speed and success of a lab’s or clinic’s steps through digital dentistry depend in large part on the equipment and tools at their disposal.
With its Digital SMART Flow solution, Elos Accurate® offers labs and clinics the best possible components and tools for every phase of the digital dentistry journey. Standing for Simplify the Manufacturing of Accurate Restorations with Technology, Digital SMART Flow’s components facilitate the smooth completion of the three main phases in the digital dentistry workflow: scanning, designing, manufacturing.
Enabling accurate scanning
Scanning is the gateway to a digital workflow. Elos supports clinics and labs in this all-important phase of Digital SMART Flow with its scan bodies. Proven to deliver accurate scans, Elos Accurate® scan bodies have the added benefit of compatibility with all major platforms—the dentist or clinic is not tied into a specific product ecosystem.
This flexibility is enhanced by the scan bodies’ compatibility with digital and analog workflows. Clinics, for example, are free to start the workflow with a digital impression from an intra-oral scanner or a conventional impression. Clinics and labs can then continue the workflow entirely digitally, or mix conventional with digital, by making a plaster model and scanning it with a lab scanner.
Facilitating smooth design
To facilitate successful completion of the design phase, Elos Accurate offers a suite of open digital libraries with preset perimeters as part of the Digital SMART Flow. “Open” means each library is fully compatible with the main CAD software platforms 3Shape and exocad. The open libraries are:
- Elos Accurate® Pre-Milled Library, for milled customized abutments using Elos Pre-Milled Blanks.
- Elos Accurate® Custom Bar Bridge Library, for creating one-piece bridges and bars, it includes implant connection geometries.
- Elos Accurate® Hybrid Base Engaging Library is for Elos Accurate hybrid bases (engaging) for screw-retained single restorations.
- Elos Accurate® Hybrid Base Non-Engaging Library is used for Elos Accurate hybrid bases (non-engaging) for screw-retained bridge restorations and bar restorations.
Supporting efficient manufacturing
Within Digital SMART Flow, Elos also offers a range of components to facilitate an accurate, smooth process when manufacturing final restorations from digital files or prosthetics. As with the components for the scan and design phases, these support open workflows. At no stage does the open Digital SMART Flow lock clinics or labs into proprietary solutions or systems.
The Digital SMART Flow components for the manufacturing phase comprise:
- Elos Accurate Analogs for in-house 3D printed models – These analogs are designed to adapt to the performance of different 3D printer solutions and offer flexible options.
- Elos Accurate Hybrid Bases – These Ti bases come in two sub-groups: engaging and non-engaging. The latter feature GuideGrip™ antennas at the top of each base, which enables try-in and easy handling for labs and clinics.
- Elos Accurate re-Milled Blanks Solution – In-house milling of customized abutments allows complete control of quality and timing. The solution includes a holder compatible with major milling machines.
- Elos Accurate Prosthetic Screws – These come with different screwdriver connection interfaces. Either the same interface as the implant manufacturer (Elos Prosthetic Screw) or with a hexalobular interface (Elos Accurate® Hexalobular Prosthetic Screw), which enables angled screw channels.
The openness and flexibility of Digital SMART Flow components let labs and clinics design digital workflows that work best for them and their patients. And to keep those workflows up and running, Digital SMART Flow is backed by an ever-growing suite of training and support services—resources anchored in Elos Medtech’s R&D and manufacturing facilities across Europe and in the US and Asia.
