Sales and Customer Service Manager

The Sales and Customer Service Manager is responsible for leading the sales operations and customer support team and is responsible for owning the customer supply chain experience from start to finish within the business unit.

Works closely with the global market teams and has tactical and strategic responsibility in support of global strategy attainment. Serves as the site subject matter expert to support business development, quotations and new business projects as well as ongoing execution of existing business. Planning and alignment of customer demands and forecast projections with our sales and operations strategy is a critically important role served by this manager.

Ensures that the global sales and business development team is armed with accurate and up to date information about capacities, capabilities, changing trends, current issues and customer feedback. Drives the required collaboration with operations, engineering, quality, purchasing and finance to ensure that we are making wise decisions in executing our strategy and delivering on customer expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring and maintaining employee productivity, morale, and empowerment.
  • Participates in the “new product” review process and new business projects.
  • Provides input for and conducts reviews of personnel.
  • Conducts thorough analysis, risk management and planning activities resulting in accurate and timely quotations/new business development.
  • Manages and fosters well-trained and motivated staff.
  • Produces sales reports as needed to support financial or business analysis and review
  • Works cross functionally with Sales and Plant Operations to identify, escalate and address capacity issues.
  • Perform demand analysis monthly highlighting areas of concern for the next 12 months.
  • Drives continuous process improvement through identifying and implementing best practices and system enhancements.
  • Create opportunities for sites to share and develop best practices.
  • Facilitate a high level of employee participation in Continuous Improvement activities to foster high engagement, accountability and results.
  • Manages the department of employees, provides training, competency assessments and reviews and assists in their professional growth and development.

Requirements:

  • Ability to think globally and yet quickly identify key issues, related stakeholders and critical tasks.
  • Ability to exercise a wide degree of creativity and latitude while demonstrating good judgment and accomplishment of goals.
  • Ability to develop and deliver clear, concise and persuasive presentations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • BS/BA in Engineering, Business Management or similar.
  • Experience leading people and strategic projects management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a variety of business development, supply chain and product management concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing/production environment preferred.
  • Experience with the medical device industry and regulatory standards including 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485.
  • Strong leadership and management development skills with demonstrated accomplishments
  • Strong conflict management, leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Able to handle personnel situations with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to see the overall picture in order to grow and motivate the organization.
  • Dynamic, flexible team player with demonstrated ability to lead and develop others.
  • Professional demeanor and presentation with ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Proactive and results oriented, highly efficient and very customer focused (internal and external).
  • Occasional travel required (less than 10%).
  • Ability to assimilate and disseminate information quickly.
  • Project management oriented and driven with the ability to multi-task across several areas.
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities based on business demand required.
